Aboriginal people used the plants in their environment for many different purposes - for food, shelter, fibres, tools and medicines. All parts of the plant were valuable: the fruits, berries, seeds, nuts, leaves, bark and roots.

There are several bush foods in the Reserve:

Bush foods are increasingly common in supermarkets with jams made from the Lilly Pilly and other rainforest fruits, chutneys and sauces, and wattle seed flour. Seasonings include native peppers, native tomato and lemon scented myrtle.
