Plant:              A small spreading sub-shrub up to 20cm high.

Flowers:         Tiny reddish and hairy, cup-shaped, 3mm diameter in groups of 2 to 4 arranged in a terminal umbel.

Flowering:      August-November.

Fruit:               Capsule about 4mm long. The empty calyx remains on the plant.

Leaves:          Lanceolate to ovate, up to 3cm long and 2-13mm wide, oppositely arranged and often hairy.

Habitat:           Dry sclerophyll forest and heathland.

Features:       Umbels of small reddish flowers. Small opposite often hairy leaves.

Name:

Pomax            From Greek poma = a cover and axon = an axis (referring to the cover over its capsule-like fruit).

umbellata       From Latin umbella = a small shadow (i.e. an umbrella) and atus = like (referring to its  umbel of flowers).
