Family:            Luzuriagaceae

Plant:              Climber with stems up to 8m long.

Flowers:         White to mauve six-petalled, star-like flowers 15mm across and with yellow anthers. Flowers borne in terminal panicles.

Flowering:      October-December.

Fruit:               Globular, black berry, 1-2cm diameter

Leaves:          Narrow linear to ovate 2-10cm long and 3- 25mm wide, dark green and glossy with a pointed tip and rounded base. The leaves are alternate with parallel veins and a raised mid-vein.

Habitat:           Common in wet sclerophyll and rainforest.

Features:       Dark green leaves with prominent mid vein. Black berries. Plant has a twining habit.

Geitonoplesium       

                        From Greek geiton = neighbour and plesios = near (referring to its closeness to the genus Luzurisga – it was once in the separate genus Philesiaceae)

cymosum       From Latin = having-cymes
