Family:            Sapindaceae

Plant:              An erect soft, leafy shrub up to 2m high.

Flowers:         The male and female flowers are borne on separate plants. The male flowers are greenish-yellow and 2cm across. They have 8 (or rarely 10) spreading stamens arranged like spokes. The female flowers are green with red tips and are borne in filament-like clusters in the leaf axils.

Flowering:      July-October.

Fruit:               3-winged papery capsule 1-1.5cm long, yellowish-green turning purplish-brown when mature.

Leaves:          Narrow lanceolate to elliptic, 5-10cm long and 8-15mm wide with a prominent mid-rib and a pointed tip.

Habitat:           Common in dense colonies in dry sclerophyll forest.

Features:       3-winged papery fruit. Male and female flowers on separate plants.
