Plant:              An erect, slender shrub up to 1m high with flattened stems.

Flowers:         Large yellow pea flower 7-15mm long with a red keel. Flowers are solitary in the leaf axils.

Flowering:      April-June.

Fruit:               Rust-coloured pod 2-4cm long and 7-9mm wide with conspicuous margins.

Leaves:          Alternate 2-ranked leaves, 1-3cm long. Their shape can vary between obovate and narrow linear.

Habitat:           Usually found in dry, rocky locations in heathland and dry sclerophyll forest.

Features:       Alternate 2-ranked leaves. Conspicuous yellow and red pea flowers in Autumn.

heterophylla  From Greek heteros = different and phyllon = leaf (referring to its variable- leaves).
