Plant:              An spreading shrub usually up to 1m high.

Flowers:         Apple green or yellow-green bottlebrush flowers, 5-7cm long, comprised of masses of free stamens.

Flowering:      September-November.

Fruit:               Woody capsule 6-7mm diameter crowded into cylindrical clusters around woody stems.

Leaves:          Stiff rough, pointed dark green needle-like leaves, 4-8cm long and 0.5-1.5mm wide with revolute margins. They are aromatic when crushed.

Habitat:           Damp heathland and dry sclerophyll forest on sandy soils.

Features:       Yellow-green flower spike. Needle-like aromatic dark green leaves.

Name:

Callistemon   From Greek kallistos = very-beautiful.

pinifolius        From Latin pinus = pine-or fir tree and folius = leaf (referring to its leaves being similar to pine needles).
