Family:            Lobeliaceae

Plant:              A prostrate herb up to about 10cm high with winged stems.

Flowers:         Mauve to pale blue tubular 5-lobed, fan-shaped flowers up to 1cm long solitary in leaf axils.

Flowering:      November-January.

Fruit:            Conical capsule 5-15mm long and 1.5-3mm diameter.

Leaves:          Obovate to linear 2-8cm long and up to 2cm wide, soft, fleshy and with irregularly toothed margins.

Habitat:           Common on wet rocks near the sea, in brackish marshes and along streams.

Features:       Solitary mauve to pale blue fan-shaped flowers on winged stems in the leaf axils.
