Plant:              A scrambling herb with stems up to 50cm long

Flowers:         White flowers in small umbels 3.5-7mm diameter.

Flowering:      October-April.

Fruit:               Small, obovate to circular ribbed fruit 1.3-2.5mm long and wide.

Leaves:          Divided, 3-lobed with their primary segments ovate, obovate or elliptic, 2-3 times as long as they are broad. The leaves near the base are usually 5-10cm long whilst those opposite flower stalks are usually 2-8cm long.

Habitat:           Widespread on coastal foreshores, on sea cliffs and beside coastal estuaries.

Features:       Small umbels of tiny white flowers.  Scrambling habit. Divided leaves

Apium                        From Latin apium = celery.

prostratum    From Latin prostraus = prostrate (referring to its habit).
