Plant:              A prostrate, spreading herb forming dense carpets.

Flower:           Large daisy like flower 4-6cm diameter with bright pink to purple petals and masses of yellow stamens in a central disc.

Flowering:      January-December.

Fruit:               Red to purple fleshy berry 2-3cm long.

Leaves:          Succulent, thick, linear, leaves 4-10cm long and 9-15mm wide and triangular in cross-section.

Habitat:           Near the sea on cliffs and dunes.

Features:       Succulent, thick, fleshy leaves triangular in cross-section. Large showy pink flowers.

Carpobrotus  From Greek karpos = fruit and brotos = edible

glaucescens  From Latin glaucus  = bluish-green and escens = resembling (referring to its glaucous leaves).
