Plant:              A much-branched prostrate herb up to 30cm high. A plant that is extremely variable in size, leaf shape and the number of flower heads.

Flowers:         Yellow daisy-like flowers 1-2cm diameter with an orange central discs.

Flowering:      All year but mainly in the spring.

Fruit:               Reddish-brown or green achene 2-3mm long with a ring of hairs at their apex.

Leaves:          Linear to oblanceolate, often deeply lobed or toothed, up to 4cm long and 1cm wide, succulent and stem clasping.

Habitat:           Coastal cliffs and sand dunes.

Features:       Yellow daisy flower. Fleshy leaves.

Name:

Senecio          From Latin senex = old man (referring to its white pappus).

lautus             From Latin lautus =  elegant, handsome.

maritimus      From Latin maritimus = of the sea (referring to its habitat).
