Plant:              An emergent and floating aquatic plant with leaves up to 1.5m long.

Flowers:         Cream to pink, erect spike up to 30cm long.

Flowering:      August-September.

Fruit:               Globose with 6 carpels up to 1cm long, each with a flat outer surface.

Leaves:          Narrow, strap-like 30-140cm long and 3cm wide, emergent and floating. The leaves are very thickened and spongy towards the base.

Habitat:           Ponds and slow-flowing fresh water.

Features:       Aquatic plant with strap-like leaves. The leaves float on the surface of the water.

Name:

Triglochin      From Greek = Three-barbed (referring to the points on its carpels).

microtuberosum

                        From Latin micro = small, tuber = a lump or swelling and osus = many (referring to the tubers on its roots).
