Family:            Ericaceae

Plant:              A slender, erect shrub up to 1m high.

Flowers:         Small white to pink tubular flowers with 5 spreading lobes and 5 stamens. Flower tubes 1.5-3mm long. Flowers are dense along upper part of stems.

Flowering:      June-November.

Fruit:               A small cream or rust-coloured capsule.

Leaves:          Erect heart-shaped or rhombic 2-6mm long and 1.5-4mm wide with parallel veins and an acute tip.

Habitat:           Common in damp rocky areas in heathland and dry sclerophyll forest.

Features:       Small white 5-petalled flowers. Tiny sharp leaves.

Name:

Epacris           From Latin epi = upon and akros = the top (referring to its habitat originally thought to have been confined to the tops of hills)
