Family:            Elaeocarpaceae

Plant:              An understorey shrub or small tree up to 10m high.

Flowers:         White, pendulous and bell shaped with fringed petals and borne amongst the leaves in axillary racemes.

Flowering:      October-December.

Leaves:          Oblong-elliptic 5-13cm long with toothed margins, prominent net veins with domatia present. Some leaves turn red with age.

Fruit:               Blue globular berry about 12mm diameter.

Habitat:       In rainforest and wet sclerophyll forest.

Features:       Blue berries. Prominent net veins on tough leaves. A small lump on the underside of the leaf at the junction with the leaf stem.

Elaeocarpus  From Greek = olive-fruit

reticulatus      From Latin = forming a network (referring to the veins on its leaves)
